When the roadworks take the walk-in trade

Bahnhofstrasse in Schaffhausen has been a construction site since May 2024. Anyone who used to walk past the door no longer walks past. So we moved the visibility to where people still are.

The starting point

A restaurant behind a barrier

The current stage of the roadworks closes the northern section of Bahnhofstrasse and the car park in front of the restaurant for the entire construction period. Access runs through a single signalled entrance.

For a business that lives on passing trade, that is not a blemish — it is the loss of its most important channel. The product was never the problem. Nobody could see it any more.

The approach

Move the visibility, don't replace it

A restaurant cannot negotiate a construction site away. It can decide where it takes place while the site lasts.

So no appeal to come despite the roadworks — that would have been a request. Instead videos that stand on their own: reactions from passers-by, the cooking up close, a format about the neighbourhood itself. Whoever sees them sees the food first and the address second.

Shot in two blocks rather than a single session. That creates a rhythm in the feed instead of one wave that is over in three days.

The work

The five videos

Two production blocks, shot in the restaurant, on the bank of the Rhine and around the neighbourhood. Every video is built for the feed: vertical, subtitled throughout, readable without sound.

Street survey

Passers-by taste it by the Rhine

The longest clip in the set: people on the Rhine promenade taste the burger and the reactions stay in, uncut. Subtitles are burnt in, because the feed is watched with the sound off.

Where the videos run

The Dä Burger website is not live yet. The videos run where the business can be reached today:

Where things stand today

The roadworks continue, and no video changes that. What has changed is where the business takes place: in the feed rather than on the closed pavement.

The content subscription continues. There are deliberately no performance figures here — the channels belong to the client, and we do not publish numbers we did not measure ourselves.
