Modern workplace
Your people work in the office, at home and at customer sites. The question is not whether that works, but whether it works equally well everywhere — and whether anyone is emailing files to themselves in the process.

In short
A modern workplace is a working environment that does not depend on one device or one location: files, communication and applications are equally reachable everywhere, sign-in is centrally managed, and security attaches to the user rather than the network. For most Swiss SMEs Microsoft 365 is the basis — the difference is not the licence but how it is configured.
- One account for every application
- Files in one place, not on drives and sticks
- Two-factor sign-in as the default
- Devices managed rather than hand-configured
- Permissions by role, not by person
What is included
A modern workplace is not a product, it is a configuration:
- Modern workplace
- Microsoft 365
- Teams and collaboration
- SharePoint and file storage
- Device management with Intune
- Central sign-in
- Two-factor authentication
- Permission model
- Onboarding and offboarding
- Mobile devices
- Data loss prevention
- User training
What changes day to day
Not the tools — the friction between them:
- A new joiner is productive in minutes
- On leaving, access is removed in one step
- No hunting for which version of a file is current
- A lost laptop is an annoyance, not an incident
- Working from home needs no special arrangement
- Externals can collaborate without access to everything
Typical starting points
This is usually what it looks like before we start:
- Files live on a server, in OneDrive and on sticks — all three
- Everyone sets up their own laptop, and every one is different
- Offboarding is a list somebody works through by hand
- Externals get an account that is never deleted
- Teams is in use but nobody decided what for
How we work
Survey
Where the files actually are, who has access to what, which devices exist. That week's output is usually already half the benefit.
Order
A permission model by role instead of accumulated individual shares. It is the work nobody sees and everything else rests on.
Migrate
Files move, devices are enrolled, two-factor sign-in goes on. In steps, not over one weekend.
Support
Two weeks closely, then normally. Migrations never fail on technology — they fail because somebody cannot find their familiar folder.
Keep it in order
A joiner and leaver procedure, so the order still stands six months later.
Common questions
Usually not. The device-management and security features sit inside the common Microsoft 365 plans and are simply not switched on. We check what you already pay for first — the first step is regularly an inventory, not an order.
It does not automatically disappear. Some applications need it, and large volumes are often faster locally. We decide per repository, not across the board.
With ten to thirty workstations, typically four to eight weeks, spread out rather than in one block. Technology is rarely the limiting factor — your people's availability is.
Only if two-factor sign-in is on across the board. Cloud on its own is not safer, it is more reachable. Which is exactly why it is not optional with us.
Disclosure abroad must be named and safeguarded — that is what the revised Data Protection Act requires. For standard cases that runs through Microsoft's contractual clauses; with sensitive data we look at it per application.
Why ALPENIQ
We do not set up a modern workplace that falls apart again after three months. The difference is the permission model and the joiner-leaver procedure — the least spectacular work in the whole project and the only part that decides whether the order holds.
We work this way ourselves. Four people, five divisions, distributed work — the same setup we recommend.
You know there's more in your business.
Thinking higher starts with a conversation.
30 minutes, honest and concrete: we look at where your company stands digitally, and which step moves you forward fastest right now.
