Advertising in ChatGPT, without the overstatement

OpenAI Ads has been available in Switzerland since 24 August 2026. That is new enough that nobody holds reliable figures – we do not either. What we do hold is the factual position: who sees the ads, who does not, and which lever is still missing here. From that follows whether a test makes sense for you or whether you should wait.

In short

OpenAI Ads are placements inside ChatGPT – they appear in the conversation when someone compares options or prepares a purchase decision. Booking runs through the OpenAI Ads Manager, self-serve since 31 August 2026. The appeal is the moment: the person is asking about a solution, not about a vendor. The damper is the reach, and we name it before you commit money.

  • Bookable in Switzerland since 24 August 2026
  • Only Free and Go users see the ads
  • Ad personalisation is not active here yet
  • A capped test, not a campaign built on hope

What we do for OpenAI Ads

A test is a measurement, not a small launch:

  • Checking whether your offer appears in a comparison conversation at all
  • Account setup in the OpenAI Ads Manager
  • Ad copy for the conversational moment, not for a search query
  • A landing page that answers the question the click came from
  • Conversion tracking via our own parameters, because the platform is young
  • Daily budget cap and stop condition agreed before launch
  • A comparison against the same amount spent in Google Ads
  • A clear recommendation after the test: scale, repeat, or drop

What makes the difference

Above all, what we do not claim:

  • We give no reach or cost-per-click forecast – there is no reliable one for Switzerland
  • We tell you that Plus, Pro and Business users will not see your ad
  • We tell you that ad personalisation is not yet active in the EEA and Switzerland
  • The test runs against a matched amount in Google Ads, otherwise the result is unreadable
  • No automatic spend: approval per campaign, cap set inside the platform

Who a test makes sense for today

The limitation above decides this, not the industry:

  • Offers bought by consumers and small businesses – that is where the free user base sits
  • Providers whose customers compare solutions before they know a name
  • Businesses already running Google Ads with a comparison budget to spare
  • Not today: offers aimed solely at paying ChatGPT power users – they see no ads

How we work

  1. First conversation

Free of charge. First question: does your offer even come up in a comparison conversation? If not, this channel is not yours today, and we say so instead of selling a test.

  2. A test with a limit

Amount, run time and stop condition in writing, approved by you. Plus the same amount in Google Ads as a comparison – a result without a comparison is a number without meaning.

  3. Measure

Our own parameters on every link, because a young platform does not yet deliver reliable attribution of its own. We measure through to the enquiry, not to the click.

  4. Decide

Three options after the test: scale, repeat in three months, or drop. «Drop» is a valid result, and it then costs you exactly the test amount.

Common questions

Why ALPENIQ

We have worked on AI visibility in ChatGPT for years – the unpaid side of the same surface. Knowing how answers come about there also sharpens the judgement of where an ad next to them works.

And we separate what is evidenced from what merely sounds plausible. On this platform, little is evidenced today. That stands on this page instead of disappearing behind a forecast.
