Content Marketing

In short
Content marketing means publishing material that answers a question your customers actually have, rather than promoting what you sell. The return does not come while it is read but afterwards: someone arriving through a piece already knows you before the first conversation. It works slowly and does not expire.
The difference from advertising is direction
Advertising interrupts someone who intended to do something else. Content marketing answers a question that person just asked themselves. The attention is different in kind – which is why conversion from content usually beats conversion from cold advertising.
The price is time. A piece published today typically produces its first enquiries months later. If you need revenue next week, SEA is the right instrument.
The question that comes before any piece
Not «what could we write about» but «what is being searched for, and who answers it badly today». That is a measurement, not a brainstorm – and it separates a piece that produces enquiries from one that was merely work.
The second test is less comfortable: can we say something here that is not already in ten other articles? If not, the piece is optional no matter how good the search volume looks.
Why it usually fails in SMEs
Not on the quality of the first piece but in the third month. Content marketing is a cadence discipline: two good pieces a quarter beat eight in one week followed by silence.
The second reason is a missing link to the offer. A piece that answers a question and then releases the reader with no next step produces goodwill and nothing else. That next step belongs on a landing page.
How we handle it
Every topic comes from measured demand, not from an editorial meeting. Concretely: we look for queries where visibility already exists but an unsuitable page answers them – that gap is the cheapest one to close.
Content and visibility are planned together: SEO makes sure the piece gets found, social media optimisation makes sure it finds readers without a search engine.
